Round-Up for Rehab

Put on your boots and come out for a long-time Coleman tradition taking place on October 23rd at 11:00 am. The Round-Up for Rehab Special Auction Sale benefiting the West Texas Rehabilitation Center will once again be hosted by the Edington family at the Coleman Livestock Auction barn. The Rehab Center is a well-known, non-profit organization dedicated to providing outpatient rehabilitative care to more than 500 children and adults each day….regardless of patients’ financial circumstance.

Founded in 1953, the Rehab Center began with 1 physical therapist treating children with disabilities. Today, the highly respected organization operates 3 locations – Abilene, San Angelo and Ozona with more than 250 professionals dedicated to improving their patients’ quality of life. Both children and adults are offered numerous outpatient rehabilitative services within a team approach to achieve life changing goals. Through the years, many in the Coleman community have either been a Rehab patient or know of others who received services from the Center.

As part of the Rehab’s mission, funds are raised through various events to support patient services. The Round-Up for Rehab program, which plays an important role in the West Texas Rehab’s fundraising efforts first began in 1960 and was founded under the philosophy of “Neighbor-Helping-Neighbor”.

Since 1961, Coleman and surrounding area ranchers, merchants and Rehab supporters have donated animals, merchandise, baked goods, arts & crafts and cash gifts in support of the Center as part of the special Round-Up auction event. Local chairmen and Rehab friends heading up the 2013 Coleman County Round-Up program are Bobbie Edington, Bob & Sylvia Edington, Mike Edington, Maureen Hickman, Jay Davis, Tommy Sloan, Mitch & Bobbi Birdwell, Dwin & Karen Nanny, Amy Hinds, Renea McMillan and Tony Williams.

Everyone is sure to find something at the Coleman Round-Up Auction that will entice them to jump in and join the bidding. The Coleman High School Student Council will once again be joining the activities by helping in the auction ring and also serving up chuckwagon beans and cornbread along with some mighty good campfire cobbler prepared by the Rehab’s Chuckwagon crew.

So whether you raise your hand in a lively auction, sample the cobbler or join the many others through the years by contributing an animal, auction item or a cash donation, be sure to come out on October 23rd and support the Rehab Center. For more information or to donate for the Coleman Rehab Round-Up special sale, please call WTRC @ 325-660-8338 or contact the Coleman Livestock Auction @ 325-625-4191.

Thank you to everyone that joined us for our 50th Anniversary. It was a great day to gather and reflect on the past and look forward to the future with old and new friends.
